Long bio (256 words)

Jared B. Reimer is Lead AI Architect at the University of Washington @ Information Technology (UWIT), the central IT organization serving three campuses and UW Medicine, and the primary architect of PURPLE, the University's generative AI platform. PURPLE went from prototype to campus-wide production in under two years and is in full production for more than 100,000 students, faculty, researchers and staff, who have built more than 1,200 agents on it.

Before UW he founded Cascadeo in 2006 and was its CTO for eighteen years, and its CEO when it needed one. Cascadeo grew to hundreds of people, served more than 100 organizations, earned a place in Gartner's Magic Quadrant three years running, and in 2023 built Cascadeo AI, among the first enterprise cloud management platforms built around generative AI. It was acquired in 2020. Earlier he rose from systems administrator to VP of Operations at oz.net, one of Seattle's first ISPs, and was interim CEO and then CTO of The River, taking it through a turnaround to its sale. In 2001 he was one of three founding directors of the Seattle Internet Exchange nonprofit and its first president; it is now the largest Internet exchange in the United States by connected networks, still free of monthly fees, and widely cited as the model for community-run exchanges. He was senior technical advisor on HBO's “Silicon Valley,” and has spoken at AWS re:Invent, NANOG and Internet2. He holds an MS and a BS in Computer Science from the University of Washington and lives on Mercer Island, Washington.
